President Biden on Thursday said he wasn’t aware in advance about the FBI raid on Rudy Giuliani’s Manhattan apartment.
“I give you my word I was not, I made a pledge: I would not interfere,” Biden said in an interview with Craig Melvin of NBC News.
“I learned about it last night,” Biden said.
He said, “The Justice Department is the people’s lawyer, not the president’s lawyer.”
Giuliani served as former President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and was influential in investigating and promoting allegations of Biden family corruption.
The FBI reportedly raided Giuliani as part of a probe into whether the former New York mayor illegally lobbied Trump on behalf of Ukrainian businessmen.
