A body that washed up in the Grand Canyon has been identified as a New Mexico man last seen riding down the Colorado River with his dog on a homemade wooden raft over three weeks ago, the National Park Service announced this week.
Thomas Robison, 58, was found on the river on Friday after last being seen on April 21, officials said.
That’s when Robison’s 2001 Toyota Tacoma “was found abandoned at Lee’s Ferry in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area,” agency officials told Fox News on Tuesday.

The man was found on the Colorado River. NPS“It is believed he may have attempted to go down the Colorado River with his dog, who is a Welsh Corgi, on a self-made raft,” the agency told the outlet.
The Coconino County medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
His death is believed to be the first at the popular Arizona park since November, when a 65-year-old hiker was found dead on a rigorous 18-mile hiking trail, according to the park service.
James Handschy of Oracle, Arizona, was pronounced dead on the Bright Angel Trail and became the 10th fatality at the Grand Canyon in 2023.
