Police in South Carolina are investigating an unidentified body that washed ashore, according to officials

An adult male body was reportedly found in the surf around 10 a.m. Monday at Myrtle Beach State Park, news station WBTW reported.

Rescue crews reportedly blocked off a section of the beach at the popular vacation destination while they investigated.

“We saw the whole thing, it was so sad,” a beach-goer told Myrtle Beach Online.

Authorities ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
