Angry border patrol agents lashed out at Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz during what was meant to be a morale-boosting visit with the two officials in Laredo, Tex., according to leaked video released Saturday.

“For evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing,” one agent argued during the Friday meeting, the Washington Examiner reported. “Good men are doing nothing. You’re allowing illegal aliens to be dropped off in communities.”

The agents were fuming over reports that illegal immigrant adults with criminal records are being secretly released across the US, despite a federal law mandating their immediate deportation.

Ortiz acknowledged that the border agency’s “morale is at an all-time low.”

“I get it, you come to work, you’re frustrated,” Ortiz said. “You’re upset because you didn’t get the desired outcome that you want. Doesn’t mean you give up.”

“You keep releasing criminal aliens into the country,” the restive agents argued.

“You’re getting bogged down in the policies and the politics,” Ortiz shot back.

Since March of last year, border agents have encountered at least 165,000 people a month trying to illegally cross into the country — a more than three-fold increase over 2020, the last year of the Trump administration, according to Customs and Border Protection statistics.

“Under this administration, in the last year, we’ve got the highest fentanyl deaths in the history of our country,” one agent lamented.

On Wednesday, Mayorkas got a similar earful from officers in Yuma, Ariz., where a furious agent turned his back on the secretary to express his exasperation.

“I know the policies of this administration are not particularly popular with US Customs and Border Protection,” Mayorkas said. “But that’s the reality and let’s see what we can do within that framework.”
