A Boston peacock was apparently fed up with the coronavirus lockdown.

A Beantown officer who was on patrol near the Franklin Park Zoo about 6 a.m. Monday was approached by a concerned citizen that the bird had escaped from the closed facility, police said.

The quick-thinking officer tracked down a peacocking mating call on his department-issued cell phone, using it to attract the “extremely large, slightly intimidating, and quite beautiful” bird, according to a press release.

Using the device, the officer successfully lured the bird into a fenced-in yard, where it was picked up by Boston Animal Control.

The collar was quite a feather in his cap, but the officer has not made himself available to the media because he was asleep after his shift.

The zoo has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
