A man fatally shot his girlfriend, a 15-year-old boy and wounded three others before killing himself in an apparent murder-suicide at a Florida apartment complex early Monday, police said.

The 42-year-old gunman, who was not immediately identified, took his own life as Miami-Dade police responded to the shooting scene at about 1:40 a.m. Monday at an apartment complex near the Homestead Air Reserve Base.

“As officers were attempting to establish communication with the subject, he sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Miami-Dade police said in a statement.

Cops found five victims with gunshot wounds at the southwest Miami-Dade apartment complex, including a 38-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy who were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Three other victims — an 18-year-old man, an 11-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy — were also wounded during what police described as a domestic-related shooting spree.

Miami-Dade police Det. Angel Rodriguez said the 11-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were airlifted to a hospital, with the boy being initially listed in critical condition and the girl as stable.

The 18-year-old victim was listed in stable condition at another hospital, Rodriguez said.

The unidentified gunman, who was the 38-year-old woman’s boyfriend, shot himself after being located in another part of the apartment complex. An investigation is ongoing, Rodriguez said.

The relationships between the other victims and the gunman were not immediately clear. Reached for comment Monday afternoon, Rodriguez said he had no additional information to provide, including on a possible motive or the conditions of the surviving victims.

Investigators said there’s no apparent ongoing threat to the community, saying the shooting was an “isolated incident,” WINK-TV reported.

“Whenever you have juveniles that not only are injured but killed, it affects us all as a community,” Rodriguez told the station. “It is an isolated incident and the community needs to know that they are safe.”

The shooting marked the latest instance of deadly gunfire in southern Florida, where three people were killed and five others were wounded early Sunday in a drive-by shooting as a crowd left a graduation party near Miami Dade College’s Kendall campus.

One week earlier, two people were killed and more than 20 others were wounded three gunmen opened fire into a crowd outside El Mula Banquet Hall in northwest Miami-Dade County. A third victim later died from her injuries, the Miami Herald reported.
