Burglars used an SUV to ram their way into a multimillion-dollar Los Angeles mansion belonging to “Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Grey’s uncle, then ripped off a 1,000-pound safe containing $300,000 worth of money and jewels, authorities said.
Cops responded to the $15 million home in the ritzy Holmby Hills neighborhood owned by tech entrepreneur Ronald A. Katz, 82 — the brother of Academy Award-winning actor Joel Grey, Jennifer’s dad — around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, authorities told local station ABC 7.
The housekeeper heard rumbling and assumed that the residents were returning home — but she soon discovered the crash and two suspects ransacking the mansion, police said.
By the time the housekeeper called the cops, the burglars were making their getaway in the same vehicle they used to get into the mansion — a red SUV.
It appeared that the suspects had used the vehicle to ram the home’s front gate and get inside, authorities told the station.
Police were gathering evidence left at the scene, including a vehicle’s side mirror, police said.
Investigators also are examining the surveillance system at the nine-bedroom, 10-bathroom, nearly 8,000-square-foot home, which is just doors from the Playboy Mansion.
Katz confirmed to The Post that the burglary happened at his home but declined to comment further.
Katz — an innovator in the field of automated call center technology — is president of Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing LP.
