A bus driver in Seattle was shot and severely injured while on the job Wednesday — but still managed to speed away and get his passengers to safety.

The brave King County Metro bus driver was blasted in the torso at about 4 p.m. by a crazed gunman on the street who was firing shots at random motorists, according to the Seattle Police Department.

After being injured, the bus driver hit the gas and made a getaway. None of the 12 passengers on board were injured.

“My understanding is, even after he had been struck by gunfire, he was able to maneuver the bus, to back out, and get his passengers to safety, before hitting the emergency alarm button,” Metro spokesman Jeff Switzer told The Seattle Times.

The gunman continued shooting at motorists, fatally striking a 50-year-old male driving a red Prius.

The suspect then hopped into the Prius and sped off. He crashed into another vehicle nearby, killing the 70-year-old male driver in that car.

After a brief standoff, cops were able to cuff the gunman, who was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The bus driver was hit in the torso and was taken to the hospital.
