Touching video on Monday shows onlookers softly singing “Ave Maria” as the historic Notre Dame cathedral burns.
The footage posted to Twitter shows people of all ages singing the haunting song, with some kneeling and clutching rosaries.
The camera then pans to the 850-year-old landmark engulfed in flames.
“Chills. Chills. Chills. ‘Ave Maria’ goes straight to every Christian’s heart. And today, to all hearts,” one user commented on the video, posted by El Mundo correspondent Ignacio Gil.
