The first defendant to plead guilty in New Jersey’s largest corruption sting more than three years ago was sentenced to 30 months in prison yesterday.

Newark federal Judge José L. Linares said former Jersey City official Maher Khalil had expressed genuine remorse for his role in an influence-peddling scheme.
