A California “manny” has been jailed for 30 years for filming child porn with children in his care — after being busted sharing the vile videos with other pedophiles on the dark web, according to officials.
Travis Elconin, 35, of Burbank, pleaded guilty to making the videos of at least four children, most age 8 or 9, with officials believing as many as eight kids were abused, prosecutors said Monday.
Some were kids of his close friends — with the youngest victim just 4, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Elconin had also won some families’ trust by painting himself as the “perfect caretaker” in online ads for his services, the US Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
“I know how important it is as a parent to know that your children are safe when you’re not around. That would be my top priority,” one ad read, according to prosecutors.
His sick videos emerged last November when German officials contacted the FBI about at least 10,000 messages he had shared on the dark net with European pedophiles, the statement said.
He also shared the pornographic images with at least two unidentified people through the encrypted messaging service WhatsApp and promised to make more porn with the kids, according to the Times.
Elconin pleaded guilty on March 18 to a two-count criminal information charging him with the production of child pornography.
He was sentenced Monday to 30 years in federal prison and will be placed on supervised release for the rest of his life when he gets out.
