A “delirious and combative” driver was arrested Thursday morning after ramming his car into a security barrier outside a House of Representatives office building, authorities said.
According to Capitol Police, 28-year-old Kevin Simon was charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest, and two counts of leaving after colliding with the barricade outside the Longworth Office Building shortly before 8 a.m.
The barrier crash being investigated by Capitol Police. @MatthewFoldi / XInvestigators said Simon abruptly exited Interstate 395 North and hit two other cars in DC’s Capitol Hill neighborhood before smashing the barrier, suffering minor injuries in the process.
Capitol Police said there was no indication the crash was deliberate or terror-related.
Simon was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The crash also came 23 days after a registered sex offender from Georgia was arrested while walking with a rifle near three Senate office buildings on the other side of the Capitol.
