A woman whose body was discovered stuffed in a suitcase on the side of a Connecticut road had died from suffocation, an autopsy report showed on Monday.
Valerie Reyes, 24, a resident of New Rochelle, died from homicidal asphyxia before being found in the suitcase on the morning of Feb. 5 just off Glenville Road in Greenwich, according to the Connecticut medical examiner.
The woman’s ex-boyfriend, Javier da Silva, is being held on a kidnapping charge in connection with her death.
Da Silva — a Venezuelan citizen who was living in Queens illegally after overstaying a visa — was nabbed on Feb. 12 after he used an ATM card belonging to Reyes to withdraw cash from her account.
The man told police that Reyes fell and hit her head.
