Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah local, confessed Friday morning to fatally shooting conservative activist Charlie Kirk, officials said.

President Trump announced live on Fox & Friends that a suspect had been arrested.

Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA who one of the most influential figures on the right, especially among young people, was shot and killed Wednesday while speaking at an event on Utah Valley University’s campus during his American Comeback Tour.

Suspect Tyler Robinson "had become more political in recent years," Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said a family member of his told investigators, hinting at a possible motive in Charlie Kirk's killing.

Recently, and before the shooting Wednesday, the 22-year-old Utah local came to dinner and was talking with another family member about how Charlie Kirk was coming to UVU.

The two "talked about why they didn't like him and the viewpoints that he [Kirk] had," Cox said in a press conference Friday morning.

Kirk was "full of hate and spreading hate," the family member told investigators, according to the governor.

He confessed to fatally shooting Kirk while the conservative activist was speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, officials said this morning.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox confirmed during a press conference just now that Robinson was not a student at UVU.

Vice President JD Vance just posted his thanks to Utah officials, FBI and police for the "big breakthrough" this morning in arresting Charlie Kirk's confessed assassin.

"We took a big step this morning in getting justice for Charlie, and for his family," Vance wrote, in part.

"Thanks be to God for that."

FBI Director Kash Patel had a heartfelt message for Charlie Kirk after his alleged assassin was taken into custody Friday after a 33-hour manhunt.

"Rest now brother, we have the watch. And we'll see you in Valhalla," Patel said at the conclusion of his remarks at this morning's press conference.

Officials confirmed just now that Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, had engraved chilling messages into bullet casings found with the gun he allegedly used.

“Hey fascist! Catch!” one of the casings read, according to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox.

The rifle used was found in a wooded area wrapped in a blanket not far from campus.

Tyler Robinson, the gunman accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, "confessed" to a friend "or implied that he'd committed the incident," Utah Gov. Spencer Cox told reporters just now.

A family friend "contacted the Washington County Sheriff's Office with information that Robinson had confessed to them or implied that he'd committed the incident," Cox said.

Robinson was arrested early Friday morning.

When police spoke with him this morning, he was wearing the same clothing that he wore the day of the shooting, Cox said.

“Somebody who was very close to him turned him in,” the president said, then revealing it was the suspect’s dad who relayed it through “a minister who was involved with law enforcement.”

Trump did not ID the suspect. However, law enforcement sources told The Post it was Robinson, who lives in Utah.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, FBI Director Kash Patel and other state and federal officials are set to hold a news conference to give the latest updates in Charlie Kirk's shooting.

President Trump announced on Fox & Friends around 8:30 a.m. that a suspect has been arrested following a day and a half long manhunt.

“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” during a live interview at the cable giant’s Manhattan studio, saying he heard just minutes before his 8 a.m. interview.

“Somebody who was very close to him turned him in,” the president said, saying it was relayed through “a minister who was involved with law enforcement.”

“I hope he’s going to be found guilty and I hope he gets the death penalty. What he did — Charlie Kirk was the finest person and he didn’t deserve this.”

Trump did not ID the suspect. Investigators have scheduled a public update for later this morning.
