By Samuel Chamberlain

A Chicago-based Marine Corps recruiter was stood down Thursday after he appeared to post a meme celebrating the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Screenshots of Williamson's account were later posted on Reddit.

"The Marine Corps takes this type of allegation seriously,” Capt. Austin Gallegos, a spokesman for the Corps’ Western Recruiting Region, told Task & Purpose Thursday. “The Marine in question has been relieved of his recruiting duties, and the matter is currently under investigation.”

Navy Secretary John C. Phelan, who oversees the Marine Corps, posted on X Thursday night: "I am aware of posts displaying contempt toward a fellow American who was assassinated. I want to be very clear: any uniformed or civilian employee of the Department of the Navy who acts in a manner that brings discredit upon the Department, the @USNavy or the @USMC will be dealt with swiftly and decisively."

Stephen King ripped as more ‘monstrous’ than his characters for Charlie Kirk attack: ‘Twisted liar’

By Anthony Blair

What a horror.

“Misery” author Stephen King has been slammed as “a horrible, evil, twisted liar” and “more monstrous” than any of his characters for attacking Charlie Kirk’s memory soon after the father of two was assassinated.

King, 77, was forced to delete his post and apologize — repeatedly — after sparking fury with his response to a heartfelt tribute to the murdered Trump ally.

“He advocated stoning gays to death. Just sayin’,” the famous horror author wrote in response to Fox News’ Jesse Watters labeling Kirk “not a controversial or polarizing figure” but “a PATRIOT.”

King’s reply sparked revulsion, with many pointing out that Kirk repeatedly said gay people should be welcome in the conservative movement.

"Mormons are great people. Let me just say, I'm an evangelical Christian, but I'm not one of those guys that hates on Mormons," he added.
