Derek Chauvin on Friday offered his condolences to George Floyd’s family — ahead of learning his sentence in the man’s murder.

Chauvin, wearing a suit at the Minneapolis courthouse, addressed Judge Peter Cahill and members of Floyd’s family after they had given victim impact statements prior to his scheduled sentencing.

“I’m not able to give a full formal statement at this time,” the ex-Minneapolis cop said after taking off his face mask. “Very briefly, though, I want to give my condolences to the Floyd family.”

He then hinted that more information about the case will soon emerge.

“There’s going to be some other information in the future that would be of interest and I hope things will give you some peace of mind,” he added.

Chauvin is set to be sentenced for the killing of Floyd — who died after the then-officer pinned him under his knee for more than nine minutes on May 25, 2020. He faces up to 40 years behind bars.
