Maybe he was fighting violence under the bed.
An advocate who works as a “violence interrupter” in Chicago was caught hiding naked with drugs and $50,000 cash nearby during a police raid on a home in the city’s Humbolt Park section, according to a report.
Jerel Tayor, 30, who works for a local safe street patrol and the CeaseFire anti-violence group, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, heroin possession, and possession of a controlled substance after police allegedly found a loaded pistol and bags of suspected crack cocaine and heroin during the Friday morning search, Fox News reported.
A woman sitting on a bed initially tried to dupe officers by telling them no one else was in the room — but the cops didn’t buy the lie after they spotted Taylor’s feet sticking out from underneath the piece of furniture, CWBChicago reported.
It is unclear why Taylor had been hiding in the buff, but the heroin was allegedly found near his pants, and crack was found on a bedside table next to his driver’s license, authorities said.
Police said they also found $50,000 in cash on the bedroom floor.
Taylor, who had previously been convicted of five narcotics-related crimes, was arrested and ordered to pay $500 toward bail to be released.
His lawyer said Taylor lives in the home police searched with his mother, sister, and brother, so the drugs, cash, and gun could have belonged to someone else.
