Disturbing new videos give the clearest view yet of the moment the American Airlines passenger plane and Army helicopter exploded into pieces — sending huge chunks of fiery debris crashing into the frigid water below.

The cellphone footage, obtained by CNN, provides the clearest angle so far of Wednesday’s tragic midair collision in Washington, DC, that killed 67 people in the country’s deadliest aviation disaster in almost a quarter century.

The previously unseen angles shows the Black Hawk helicopter flying over the Potomac River from the left with red lights flashing brightly from its tail and nose at about 9 p.m.

The passenger jet, meanwhile, can be seen on the right — appearing like an orb-like object — descending towards the runway at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

A huge fireball erupts as the military chopper collides with the airliner, according to the clips.

Large sections of the plane can then be seen plunging into the icy Potomac River, where it was later found in three pieces.

Remnants of the helicopter, which was carrying three soldiers, also spiral downwards with its flashing lights still visible, the chilling footage shows.

The footage emerged after audio revealed air traffic controllers had warned the helicopter it was flying dangerously close to the incoming jet.

“Have you spotted the CRJ?” the controller at the Reagan tower was heard asking the helicopter — referring to the CRJ-700 passenger plane.

The helicopter, identified by the callsign PAT-25 — responded that it saw the jet and would maneuver out of the way.

Just moments later, though, the chopper smashed into the airliner, causing a fiery midair explosion.

Aviation experts have since speculated that the helicopter pilot may have misjudged the plane’s position – or even mistaken another bright light in the sky for the aircraft.

“We do see other lights in the area, particularly one bright light from another aircraft, when the air traffic control tower asked the helicopter, ‘Do you have the plane in sight?’” Mary Schiavo, an aviation expert and former inspector general of the Department of Transportation, told CNN after reviewing the clips.

“The first time I looked at that video, I focused on the moving light, not the stationary light, which actually wasn’t stationary. It’s just a matter of vantage point. There’s a concern that the helicopter pilot may have focused on the brighter, moving light and mistaken it for the plane he was supposed to track.”

“When you fly at night, the movement of lights is where you focus first, and you have to learn that may be a distraction,” she added.

The footage emerged as investigators and crews pushed forward Friday with efforts to recover the bodies of the remaining victims from the water – two days after the deadly crash.

So far, more than 40 bodies have been pulled from the river.

Investigators, too, sought clues into the cause of the midair collision – with police boats combing the banks of the Potomac and divers trying to salvage remnants of both aircraft, officials said.

Authorities have already recovered the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder of the American Airlines plane, and are examining the actions of the military pilot as well as air traffic control.

Investigators were still looking for the helicopter’s black box recorder, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Friday.

The American Airlines jet was carrying 60 passengers and four crew when it went down. Three soldiers were aboard the helicopter.

All are assumed dead.

The victims of the crash included teen figure skaters returning from a national meet with their mothers and coaches, an Ohio college student coming from her grandfather’s funeral, two Chinese nationals and a group of hunters headed back from a guided trip in Kansas.

Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday indefinitely barred most helicopters from using the low-altitude routes that run under or parallel to the airport’s flight paths, according to an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to the Associated Press.
