China announced on Friday that it would compile a list of “unreliable” foreign entities that could damage its own companies — another tit-for-tat escalation of its trade war with the United States after President Trump blacklisted Huawei.

The Ministry of Commerce said it would blacklist foreign companies or individuals that violated contracts or market rules or took “discriminatory measures” to hurt Chinese firms, the South China Morning Post reported.

Details would be unveiled in the near future, according to ministry spokesman Gao Feng.

“Necessary measures will be taken” against those on the list, he warned.

The US blocked Huawei’s ability to sell its telecommunications equipment in the US and buy parts from American suppliers, potentially crippling one of China’s top firms.

Trade talks between the world’s two largest economies have ground to a halt.
