A Chinese medical worker died of a heart attack after working 10 days straight to help fight the coronavirus epidemic, according to a report.

Song Yingjie, 28, was found dead Monday in his dorm, following days of working as part of a team to check the temperatures of a checkpoint in Hunan, state media reported, according to the South China Morning Post.

Yingjie — whose normal gig is a hospital pharmacist — had been working since Jan. 25 at the checkpoint, which was on the southern border of the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.

“He was very motivated, hard-working, and he never complained,” Yang Dan, who worked with Song at the hospital, told local media.
