The former Los Angeles prosecutor who failed to put O.J. Simpson away for murder called the ex-football star’s unrelated Thursday parole hearing the “BS session of the century.”
Moments after Simpson made his plea for freedom, Christopher Darden – appearing on NBC – went off on the one-time murder suspect.
“Well, I got to tell you I’m a little heated,” Darden said. “You know, it’s not just the parole hearing of the century, it’s sort of the hashtag BS session of the century too.”
Darden said Simpson showed absolutely no remorse for his 2007 crimes in Las Vegas – much less the slayings of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her pal Ron Goldman.
But when asked if he’d oppose Simpson’s parole, Darden didn’t take a stance.
“It’s not really not my call. I can’t spend my life worrying about O.J.’s whereabouts as long as he isn’t standing behind me with a butcher knife,” Darden said, taking a shot at Simpson’s role in his wife’s death.
When parole was granted, Darden took it in stride.
“I’m not bothered by it. It’s not my case,” Darden said. “This case is not the case of a double murder in Los Angeles.”
He added: “I won’t complain about it. It is what it is.”
