The Clinton campaign is anxious about a devastating “October surprise” in the form of leaks of her private e-mails by Wiki­Leaks or Russia, the Sunday Times of London has reported.

Democratic officials said they believed Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted Donald Trump to win and could time a release close to Election Day.

“We’re bracing ourselves,” one Democratic official said. “It’s hard to protect against something when you don’t know what it might be.”
