These are not the type of creepy crawlers you want to encounter on Halloween.

A cockroach infestation south of Detroit led officials to cancel trick-or-treating in a contaminated neighborhood.

Officials in the city of Wyandotte shut down a portion of a street to prevent vermin that had overrun a house from taking over the entire area, according to WXYZ-TV.

Streets in the surrounding area would also be closed to trick-or-treaters so the roaches couldn’t hitch a ride on children’s Halloween costumes.

The ghastly scourge was first discovered by sanitation workers in August, according to Tom Vargo, who lives across the street from the haunted house, the outlet reported Monday.

“When the trash man threw the contents into the back of the truck, he immediately noticed a bunch of movement and it was filled with roaches,” Vargo reportedly said.

Police called to the home found children immersed in the infestation, another neighbor claimed, according to the report.

“I understand that the children were sitting on the couch for a wellness check and cockroaches were crawling all over them,” next-door neighbor Lisa Labean told the station.

The former homeowners moved out of the house but failed to wrap their belongings to be sprayed outside, causing the roaches to spread everywhere, neighbors reportedly said.

Labean said she had hundreds of pictures of the roaches running wild in the neighborhood and supported a Halloween without treats.

“I’ve been sick because I’ve got almost $1,800 into this and professional poisons and I’m terrified. I don’t want them coming in my house,” she said.
