Michael Cohen on Sunday tweeted for the first time since pleading guilty to campaign finance violations and other crimes — thanking people for contributing to his legal defense fund and for wishing him a happy birthday.
President Trump’s former lawyer, who turned 52 on Saturday, said he wanted to “to personally thank all those who #DM me on my birthday expressing #love #Continued Strength #WellWishes and #support” for his GoFundMe page.
The online fundraiser, created by Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis, has drummed up $159,961 in donations over the past four days — but is aiming for $500,000.
Cohen also tweeted thanks to ousted White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman, who had retweeted a now-deleted post from Davis saying Cohen “has decided to tell the truth” about Trump.”
“Thank you @OMAROSA. See you in #NewYork soon,” he wrote.
Cohen on Tuesday pleaded guilty to tax evasion, bank fraud and campaign finance violations — saying in court he and Trump paid two women hush money “for the purpose of influencing the election.”
