A con artist has duped hundreds of Hollywood hopefuls out of thousands of dollars by impersonating big-wig female producers, according to a report.
Producers including Amy Pascal, the former co-chair of Sony Entertainment, Gigi Pritzker and Sherry Lansing are among those who have been impersonated throughout the past two and a half years, investigators told the Hollywood Reporter.
As part of the elaborate plot, the woman – who is believed to be the sole impersonator – tells eager Hollywood newcomers that she will fly them to Indonesia for leisure and work.
Once in Indonesia, she asks them to front a few thousand dollars at a time for minor expenses, like food and tour guides, and promises to reimburse them. Investigators believe the amount has totaled $300,000 over the course of two and a half years.
