A morbidly obese man weighing over 900 pounds is due to face drug charges Tuesday afternoon — in a makeshift courtroom convened on a loading dock.

Kenneth Hicks, 48, is scheduled for the unusual hearing at 1:15 p.m. in Virginia because he is confined to bed and cannot “dress himself or be dressed by others,” court documents show.

Ruling that it would best protect Hicks’ “health and dignity,” Judge David Novak arranged for the loading dock at the US District Court in Richmond to be used for the special hearing, which is still open to the public.

The judge previously approved “extraordinary procedures” to get Hicks to court despite his “morbid obesity,” with a plan to cut a hole in his home to remove him.

A team, including members of the FBI, US Marshals Service and local emergency crews, was permitted to cut a hole in the side of Hicks’ house after bracing the structure and removing trees to clear a path — then mechanically lifting him out.

Officials refused to say how he was eventually removed on Monday last week, but he had to be taken straight to a hospital for “medical review,” adjourning the hearing initially set for that day, the documents show.

Hicks is one of seven people charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess more than a pound of cocaine, court records show.
