A wealthy Palm Beach polo magnate can not adopt his 42-year-old girlfriend, a court ruled yesterday.

A Florida appeals court said John Goodman’s adoption of his “paramour” had no purpose and could not be affirmed by a court.

Goodman, the founder of the International Polo Club, is free awaiting appeal after being sentenced to 16 years in prison for a fatal drunk-driving incident in 2010.

His ex-wife challenged the adoption because she was afraid the girlfriend would take their children’s money.
