The search for a California man who vanished on a run took a dramatic turn when several people heard cries for help coming from a canyon — but six days into the investigation, there was still no trace of him, authorities and volunteers said.

Philip Kreycik, 37, of Berkeley, was still missing Thursday, a day after volunteers received word that a family heard cries in a canyon near Sunol post office, SF Gate reported.

After receiving the tip, two search group members went to the area and also head a call for help, the outlet reported.

Experienced hikers then set out around 1 a.m. Wednesday to also search the area, but were unable to find Kreycik, who vanished on a run in East Bay Regional Park on Saturday.

Kreycik’s wife, Jen Yao, reported him missing around 2 p.m. after he didn’t return from what was supposed to be an hour-long jog in the Pleasanton park.

A search was launched with help from personnel from the East Bay Regional Park Police, Alameda County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol.

But on Wednesday night, officials called off the search efforts.

“We should have seen him by now,” said Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, ABC 7 News reported. “There should have been something that led us to him, and that’s what’s hard to digest here.”

Kreycik’s wife, however, said she was not giving up hope of finding him.

“I know in my heart of hearts he’s out there. He’s out there and he’s alive and he’s waiting for us. And maybe he’s dehydrated, may be injured, delirious,” Yao told the outlet.

Volunteer groups pledged to continue to canvass the area for him, while authorities said they would still pursue any new leads in the investigation, the news station reported.
