Cyntonia Brown, a former teenage sex-trafficking victim who was serving a life sentence for a 2004 murder before she was granted clemency earlier this year, will walk free from a Tennessee prison next week.

Brown, 31, who has been locked up for half her life, was 16 years old when she fatally shot 43-year-old Johnny Mitchell Allen, a real estate agent who had hired her as a prostitute.

In January, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam granted Brown clemency.

She is slated to be released from the Tennessee Prison for Women on Aug. 7.

Under the terms of her release, Brown will have to report to a parole officer regularly for the next 10 years, USA Today reported, noting that she must hold a job, perform community service and participate in regular counseling sessions.

Celebrities including Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna and Cara Delevingne had rallied behind Brown for her release.
