The dad of a deaf 8-year-old girl had a tattoo of a cochlear implant emblazoned on his head in a sweet show of solidarity.

Briar Hickenbottom-Marriot of Walsall, England, who was born deaf, was surgically fitted with the implant five years ago.

Her dad, Gareth, 40, decided to get the tattoo after reading about a New Zealand man who did the same thing.

“Briar was really shocked at first. I don’t think she knew what to make of it,” he told Caters News. “When I saw the story about the guy from New Zealand I thought it was a great idea and a really nice way of giving my girl a little morale boost.”

Gareth said his wife, Leanne, told him that Briar tried to remove the fake battery off his head while he was sleeping.

He said getting the tattoo was “quite painful,” but not as bad as one he got on his knee once.

“If anything, it was more difficult for the tattooist because of where it is,” he said.
