The daughter of a former Russian spy exposed to a deadly nerve agent has regained consciousness and is talking four weeks after the attack, a report said Thursday.

“She has responded well to treatment but continues to receive expert clinical care 24 hours a day,” said Dr. Christine Blanshard, medical director for Salisbury District Hospital, the BBC reported.

Yulia Skripal, 33, and her father, Sergei Skripal, 66, were found unconscious on a bench in a shopping area of Salisbury, England, on March 4.

Her father remains in critical condition.

Britain blamed Russia for orchestrating the attack using a Soviet-era nerve agent known as Novichok.

Police believe the father and daughter first came into contact with the toxin at his home in Salisbury and tests show large concentrations of the gas near the front door.

Traces of the nerve agent were also found in other parts of the house.

In retaliation, Britain, the United States and their allies have joined together to expel more than 150 Russian diplomats from their countries.

Moscow has called the allegations “nonsense” and has accused members of the British secret service of carrying out the attack on the Skripals.
