The parents of the Dayton mass shooter apologized on Wednesday for releasing an “insensitive” obituary — that failed to mention that their son slaughtered nine people, including his sister.

Connor Betts, 24, was “a funny, articulate and intelligent man with striking blue eyes and a kind smile” said the tribute published Wednesday morning by Conner & Koch Funeral Home.

The obit mentioned only that Betts “passed away, Sunday Aug. 4th” — not that he was gunned down by cops as he sprayed a Dayton nightspot with bullets, leaving dozens of people wounded.

Hours later, the in-memoriam was wiped from the Bellbrook, Ohio, funeral home’s website and replaced with an apology from the gunman’s parents, Stephen and Moira Betts.

The parents “apologize that the wording of the obituary for their son Connor was insensitive in not acknowledging the terrible tragedy that he created.”

“In their grief, they presented the son that they knew, which in no way reduces the horror of his last act,” the funeral home said in a statement. “We are deeply sorry.”

A separate obituary for the couple’s 22-year-old daughter, Megan Betts, was also posted on the website and also did not mention the massacre.

Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl has said the investigation was “inconclusive” on whether Betts targeted his sister.

The family asked that donations be made to the Glen Helen Ecology Institute, in lieu of flowers.
