A deadly cobra that escaped from its owner’s house in North Carolina has been captured, authorities said.
The zebra cobra, which can spit poisonous venom from as far as nine feet away, was cornered and captured in a red bucket by animal control Wednesday night in Raleigh, news station WTVD reported.
Police had warned residents about the loose snake after it was spotted Monday on a porch on Sandringham Drive.

There are no laws prohibiting exotic pets in the state, but owners are required to follow several guidelines, such as having an escape-proof cage, WTVD reported.

The snake is nocturnal and usually shy, but will bite or spit its killer venom if cornered by a person, USA Today reported.
