Five people were killed inside two Wisconsin homes — and authorities say the same gunman is suspected in both shootings, local authorities said.
Authorities from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 10:30 p.m. Sunday about a shooting at a home in the village of Lake Hallie, the agency said in a Monday release.
Deputies found a man and woman dead on scene — and two other adults were taken to a local hospital for gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said.
By 2:30 a.m. Monday, deputies went to a home in the Town of Lafayette, about 12 minutes away, to notify the family of one of the victims, according to authorities.
But when they arrived, they found three more people dead from gunshot wounds, police said. Those victims were a woman, a man and a juvenile male, local station WQOW reported.
Authorities deemed the case an apparent homicide.
The same gunman is suspected in both homicide investigations, and the suspected shooter is among the deceased, according to police.
There is no risk to the public, cops said.
The names of the deceased, and the relationships among them, were not immediately released.
