Hundreds of shoes left behind outside the al-Rawda Mosque in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula were a sad reminder of the brutal toll of a terror attack there Friday.
The number of dead in the massacre climbed to 305, with 27 children among them, Egyptian authorities said Saturday.
Another 128 worshippers were injured by roughly 30 militants, who attacked just as the imam was to begin his sermon. Funerals were held overnight, and many victims were buried in their bloodied clothes, according to Islamic burial practices for martyrs.
