Doe!
Washington, D.C. commuters were clueless as a nimble deer ran a’buck inside the Crystal City subway station Tuesday morning – at least until the creature came face-to-face with them.
Video footage posted by Metro DC shows a man so entranced by his phone, he doesn’t see a neighborhood Bambi skipping from the tracks to the platform, just steps away from him.
When he finally does look up, he gets startled and starts stepping away carefully.
A woman applying lipstick was also jolted by the woodland creature when she eventually spotted it — clutching her chest and standing with her mouth agape.
“Sheesh, everyone’s fawning over the Capitals these days,” joked Steve Silver on Twitter.
Adam Rubinfield wondered: “Did it pay the 2 buck fare?”
The deer actually snuck into a tunnel somewhere between National Airport and Crystal City and likely came from a wooded area between the stations, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel told the Washington Post.
After its jaunt, it managed to get out of the station safely on its own through a tunnel and back toward Reagan National Airport, Stessel said.
