The Democratic National Committee said Tuesday it will investigate domestic violence allegations against Rep. Keith Ellison, hours before he won a Minnesota primary for state attorney general.

“These allegations recently came to light and we are reviewing them,” according to a DNC statement to National Public Radio.

“All allegations of domestic abuse are disturbing and should be taken seriously.”

Ellison, a DNC co-chair, is leaving Congress to run for attorney general in his home state.

He garnered about 50 percent of the vote Tuesday to score a clear plurality in the five-candidate AG race.

Ellison has vehemently denied allegations that he abused a former girlfriend, Sierra Club organizer Karen Monahan.

Her son, Austin Monahan, wrote about those allegations on social media this past weekend.
