The Democratic presidential debate between Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden scheduled for Sunday in Arizona has been moved to Washington, DC, amid the coronavirus outbreak, according to a report Thursday.
“Out of an abundance of caution and in order to reduce cross-country travel, all parties have decided that the best path forward is to hold Sunday’s debate at CNN’s studio in Washington, D.C., with no live audience,” Democratic National Committee communications director Xochitl Hinojosa said in a statement to CNN.
Additionally, one of the moderators, Jorge Ramos of Univision, has withdrawn because he was possibly exposed to the virus — though he is not showing any symptoms, the DNC said.
“Both Mr. Ramos and the person he was in contact with are in good health and symptom-free,” Hinojosa said.
Ilia Calderón will take his place, with CNN’s Dana Bash and Jake Tapper, the network reported.
The debate, which will air on CNN Sunday at 8 p.m., will not have a studio audience.
