Democrats on Wednesday nominated Rep. Nancy Pelosi to be speaker of the House.

Pelosi, who had no challengers, still faces a full House vote in January, when Democrats take control of the chamber for the first time in eight years.

The first woman to serve as House speaker, she would regain the leadership role she lost in 2011.

“I’m proud to be the nominee of the House Democratic caucus once again for speaker of the House,” said Pelosi, 78.
