The handwriting in the margins may have swayed some reluctant Republicans, but it triggered angry Democrats.

The nearly 500-page Senate tax bill,

. Saturday on a party-line vote, included handwritten changes that Democrats say prove the process was rushed.

“This is unbelievable!” Montana Democrat Jon Tester said in a video on his Twitter account, waving a 3-inch thick printout of the bill at the camera.

Tester grabbed one page from the bill and tried to read a partly illegible handwritten paragraph along the right margin.

“This is your government at work,” Tester said.

“I couldn’t read it if I tried — and I did,” tweeted Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

The last-second changes helped secure Republican support for the bill from some wavering senators.
