WASHINGTON — House Democrats are hoping to tap into former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton’s rock-star status on the stump to take back the House in 2014.

“Right now, she’s enjoying her life. However, the second that she’s ready to get involved — and I mean the second, not the minute — I will put a call in to her to be helpful,” said Rep. Steve Israel (D-LI), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Democrats need to win a net 17 seats to take back the chamber.

“I could only think of a few national figures who would be as or more effective as she would,” Israel said.
