A Denver woman fell down a steep cliff and injured herself while trying to rescue a friend’s puppy, authorities said.
The 25-year-old woman was hiking with pals Saturday when a 3-month-old dog named Blue fell 15 feet down a cliff and became stuck in a narrow chute at Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride, Colorado, the San Miguel Sheriff’s Office said.
The woman went to retrieve the pooch while one of her friends made his way down below in case the animal fell, officials said.
But when the woman reached Blue, she lost her footing and tumbled down the cliffside.
She dropped at least 30 feet before her friend down below broke her fall, sending them both sliding another 20 feet, authorities said.
The pair were brought to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Meanwhile, the “frightened” pooch was rescued by emergency crews via a rope and harness, authorities said.
She was not injured from the fall and reunited with her owner.
