Restless House Democrats delayed their leadership elections Tuesday in a blow to Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who has been their leader since 2002.

The vote, which had been scheduled for Thursday, was put off until Nov. 30.

Rank-and-file Democrats have questioned whether Pelosi, a California liberal, should remain in charge after the “shellacking” Democrats endured on Election Day.

Although she went along with the delay, a closed-door meeting was raucus and left Pelosi “very angry,” “furious” and “extremely defensive,” according to Politico.

Pelosi faces a potential challenge from Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan, in a nod to the Midwestern heartland that the Democrats lost to Donald Trump.

Pelosi wasn’t expecting a challenge and argued she shouldn’t be blamed for the Democratic losses centered in traditional Democratic states such as Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

“That speaks to the presidential race more so than our [House] races,” Pelosi told reporters as she darted off.
