WASHINGTON — The Senate is poised to vote on the $60.4 billion Hurricane Sandy disaster-relief legislation today.

The chamber will vote on more than 20 amendments to the bill, including a Republican alternative that wants to chop the funding to $23.8 billion.

Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.), the sponsor of the funding-reduction amendment, opened the debate on the legislation yesterday, saying he wanted to eliminate non-emergency funding and money not directly related to the Sandy recovery effort.
