A disgraced former judge from Ohio is suspected of stabbing his estranged wife to death — then ramming into a police cruiser while fleeing the scene, according to reports.
Lance Mason, an ex-Cuyahoga County judge, was taken into custody Saturday after allegedly killing a beloved sixth-grade teacher, 45-year-old Aisha Fraser Mason, at a home in Shaker Heights, Cleveland.com reported.
Homicide charges weren’t immediately filed against the 51-year-old former judge, but he was charged with felonious assault in connection to the car crash that left a cop hospitalized.
Police responded to the scene around 9 a.m. Saturday after a relative reported that Mason attacked his estranged spouse, news station WKYC reported.
Shaker Heights police officer Adam Flynt was standing outside his cop car when Mason sped from the driveway in his SUV and hit him, according to officials.
Mason then allegedly got out of his vehicle and ran back into his home, where he was arrested. His slain wife was found on the driveway, according to Cleveland.com
Both Mason and Flynt were brought to the hospital, where they received treatment for their injuries and remained Monday, authorities said.
Mason has a history of domestic violence. He previously served time for beating Fraser Mason so brutally in 2014 that she was forced to undergo facial reconstructive surgery, according to Cleveland.com.
In the incident, Mason slammed his wife’s head into the car dashboard as they drove their children home from a funeral, according to WKYC.
