Donations are pouring in for those affected by the destructive California fires, with corporations and stars alike chipping in.
Disney is donating $500,000 to help Golden State residents affected by the blazes and to support the more than 8,000 firefighters working to contain the flames, they said in a statement.
The cash will go to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund, which supports recovery and preparedness efforts, and to the California Fire Foundation, which provides emotional and financial support to firefighters, their families and affected residents.
Facebook also announced it was giving $250,000 to the American Red Cross and matching up to an additional $500,000 donations made to the humanitarian organization through its website.
Celebrities like pop star Miley Cyrus and actress Sandra Bullock are also reaching into their pockets.
Cyrus, who lost part of her Malibu compound in the fire, donated $500,000 to the Malibu Foundation through her charity The Happy Hippie Foundation, with her fiance, actor Liam Hemsworth.
A statement from the couple said the donation “will be used for those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience.”
Meanwhile, Oscar winner Bullock wants to help save animals at risk by making a $100,000 donation to the Humane Society of Ventura County.
