Don’t underestimate the power of java.

A Florida man on a walk with his dog says he fought off an aggressive coyote by wielding a coffee cup at the beast.

Ben Pool and his pet came “face to face” with the coyote Friday while on a trail in Fruitland Park, news station WESH reported.

The dog owner tore away the coyote from his pet, but the wild animal was “relentless,” he said.

“[The coyote] came at my legs, first, I smashed him in the side of the head with the cup,” Pool told WESH. “He came at me again, I smashed him again and then he jumped up at my face, when he did that I jumped back, smacked him in the side of the head, he screamed and he went down.”

Pool said he got into his truck to escape. But to his surprise, the coyote wasn’t ready to give up the fight, according to the report.

“It jumped up at the window of the truck,” said Pool, who ultimately ran over and killed the wild animal.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission urges dog owners to walk their pets on a short leash and keep them in enclosed areas to avoid conflicts with coyotes.
