A van driver was arrested early Wednesday after crashing his vehicle through a temporary security barricade near the White House, authorities said.
A Secret Service spokesperson told The Post the incident took place at 6:26 a.m. ET at Madison Place and H Street Northwest.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, was detained by uniformed officers. The protective agency said charges were pending, but did not go into details.
Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department said in a separate statement it was called to assist the Secret Service about 10 minutes after the crash. The department’s bomb squad checked the van and declared it safe.

Cops were unable to give further details of the incident when questioned by a reporter.
