A motorist miraculously survived after his car plowed through the roof of an Iowa home in a freak crash that sent the vehicle airborne for 125 feet, reports said.

Irrael Hildalgo, 25, of Sioux Falls was speeding in a 2013 Toyota on a highway in Larchwood Tuesday when he missed a curve in the road, hit a ditch and catapulted over a street before plunging into the roof of the home, KELOLAND.com reported.

Photos of the crash show the car through the roof of the house – which was unoccupied at the time — with the back of the vehicle sticking out.

“When I saw the picture this morning, I couldn’t believe it, I never thought I would see a car sticking out of a roof,” said Lyon County Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep, according to the news outlet.

“You see that on television, but it’s very rare that you see it in real life,” Vander Stoep added.

Authorities estimate that the driver was going at least 115 miles-per-hour in a zone with a 35-mile-per-hour speed limit.

Neighbors were stunned by the crash.

“All you seen was the back bumper and tail lights, so he was quite a ways into the house,” Curtis Canfield told KELOAND.com.
