A 5.8-magnitude earthquake rocked western Montana just after midnight Thursday, sending tremors to areas more than 30 miles away from its epicenter.

The earthquake hit about six miles southeast of Lincoln, a town with a population of 1,013, and at a depth of about 2.6 miles, according to the United States Geological Survery.

The tremors were felt by residents as far away as Spokane and Seattle, Washington, KRTV reported.

There were no immediate reports of injuries and the USGS estimated that there was a low likelihood of casualties or damage.
